About Us

Ann's Cake Pan is a family owned and operated business that began as a hobby over 50 years ago. Now two generations are working together handling the thriving business, which has evolved and grown mainly by "Word of mouth."

Ann Natter had been involved in the world of cake decorating for over fifty years. Ann fell in love with the art as a hobby while making cakes for her seven children, neighbors and friends. She soon began creating special occasion cakes for events at local schools and churches. Eventually through "word of mouth" Ann's Cake Pan received referrals from many prestigious hotels and country clubs.

Ann studied with Charlotte Collins in Philadelphia, PA, attended classes at Maid of Scandinavia in Minneapolis, MN and over time perfected her own artistic style, capturing the exquisite beauty of flowers in sugar art. She developed a full line of wedding and special occasion cakes and dozens of designs to meet her customers’ requests and fulfill their wedding day dreams. Ann especially enjoyed serving her customers years later when they called her to make cakes for their baby showers, christenings, birthday parties and graduations.

Sharing her passion with others, Ann taught cake decorating at area night schools and Gwynedd Mercy College. She has given numerous demonstrations, been featured in news articles and received many awards at the local and state levels. We're sorry to say we lost Mom (May 2016), we miss her popping into the shop from time to time and joining in with the decorating, but really... Mom is in everything we make. Mom was so proud leaving the family business in her kids hands knowing her lagacy would reach a new audience of cake-lovers for future generations.

Bill, our master baker, is the one who makes sure that the cakes taste as great as they look! He graduated from the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN with a degree in "Cake and Pastry Art" and has attended mini-courses at the Culinary Institute of America in New York.

Over the last 20 years Bill has been making our delicious cakes and has the chemistry of baking down to a fine art. He enjoys experimenting with new batter flavors and textures including the additions of fruit purees, nuts and chocolate. Bill is committed to providing customers with the most flavorful and moist cake for their special occasion.

John is the designer and creative hand behind the vast array of royal icing sugar flowers that are a distinctive of Ann’s Cake Pan designs. He hand crafts and forms each flower to be an edible copy of a living bloom. Petals are colored and tinted to mimic the color variations found in nature. John’s work has fooled many a guest who thought his icing creations were living flowers.

John studied with Betty Van Norstrand (a gold medal Olympic winner for her culinary presentations) at the Culinary Institute of America, NY.
